Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in partnership with World Vision Lanka conducted its inaugural 'Compressed Stabilised Earth Block (CSEB) Demonstration House Construction and Masonry Training' on the 27th of July 2017, as part of the European Union funded housing project "Homes not Houses: Building Sustainable Future Together"

 The local government officials of the Batticaloa District as well as officials from Habitat for Humanity Asia Pacific, officials of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, officials of World Vision Lanka, and consultants from Auroville Earth Institute in Tamil Nadu, India were present at the occasion. The beneficiary families selected to receive houses through this project as well as members of the Community Support Committees (CSC) and villagers participated in this event.


The training program which will continue till the 22nd of August is being conducted by Auroville Earth Institute. The training has been organized jointly by Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka and World Vision Lanka.
