HFHSL Faith Build in Ampitiya Kandy-24th July 2008

Venue: - St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Ampitiya, Kandy
Activity:-  Inauguration of a project to build 50 Toilets in the village of Meekanuwa     in partnership with the St Mary’s women association.

The inauguration ceremony was begun with a prayer service organized by the
St. Mary’s Women Association of the Roman Catholic Church, Ampitiya. Mr. Rohitha Fernando the HRC Co-ordinator for Central Province explained why we have to be concerned of the needy for decent affordable shelter. Mr. Francis Fernando Manager Volunteer activities briefed on the spiritual strength we need to do accomplish these activities and invited Rev. Fr. Nandana Manatunga to intercede on behalf of every body present.

The theme was “I was hungry you gave me to eat, I was naked you gave me clothes, I was home less you gave me shelter” Rev. Fr Nandana Manatunga based his homily on the above theme and said that the have, have to be concerned of the have not, and he also thanked HRC Central of Habitat for Humanity Sri-Lanka for initiating projects and fostering partnerships to serve the people with various needs. The Congregation too offered very special prayers for the intentions of Habitat for Humanity International.

After the prayer service a MOU between St. Mary’s Women Association and Habitat for Humanity HRC Central was singed, and the participant proceeded to the sites to get involved in the sweat equity programs.

The members of St. Mary’s Women Association, the staff members of HRC Central and the faith of the parish were also present.
